10. Bell AH-1 Cobra
The Bell AH-1 Cobra is an American attack helicopter. It was introduced in US Air force in 1967. It is a twin engine and two blade aircraft. It has different models. It can perform in all weather.
The helicopter is shielded with advanced technology and the windscreen is night vision goggles compatible. The helicopter can work in any condition without any disturbances.
The attack helicopter is equipped with multi-barrel miniguns, grenade launchers, and rocket launchers. It is fitted with 20mm cannon and three barreled Gatling cannon. It is also equipped with TOW missile launchers. Rocket mounts and machine guns are fitted to fight against enemies.
9. Mil Mi-24 Hind
The Mil Mi-24 Hind is one of the most dangerous helicopters in Russian Air force. It was introduced in 1972 afterward it has gone through several advancement programs.
It is an assault helicopter and widely used in combat action during military conflicts and wars. The helicopter is designed with double bubble canopy type cockpit. It is powered by turboshaft engine. This helicopter is heavily armored and has stepped cockpits. The aircraft is fitted with a 30-mm twin-barrel cannon. Other weapons include anti-tank missiles, multiple bomb ejector racks, and unguided rockets.
It can carry eight fully equipped troops as well. It is efficient in fighting in all weather conditions.
8. Denel AH-2 Rooivalk
The Denel AH-2 Rooivalk is an important attack helicopter in South African Air Force. It was introduced in 2011. It can work for long and don’t need any sophisticated support.
It can carry different types of the weapon according to the need. The attack aircraft is equipped with a 20 mm cannon and can carry air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground anti-armor missiles, and unguided rockets. It is also fitted with target acquisition system and advanced navigation system. It uses GPS, Infra-red and Doppler radar system.
It is designated as one of the best attack helicopters in the world. This gunship is also used by other country’s air forces.
7. Kamov Ka-52 Hokum-B
The Kamov Ka-52 Hokum-B is a Russian attack helicopter, and it is of the fastest and dangerous attack helicopters. It is single seat helicopter with coaxial rotor system. It was introduced in 1995.
It is fitted with the forward-looking infrared system and Merkury Low-Light TV system. It is high-performance attack helicopter with day and night ability. It also capable of performing in adverse weather conditions.
The aircraft is equipped with 30mm automatic cannon and fire control system. Laser guided anti –tank missiles and several rocket pods including S-8 and S-13 rockets. The gunship is well protected with various security measures and technologies.
It is also incorporated in Egyptian air force.
6. Agusta A129 Mangusta
Agusta A129 Mangusta in introduced in the Italian army in 1990. It is a lightweight attack helicopter. The gunship is very fast and well equipped with many advanced technologies and weapons. It is used for ground attack, anti-armor, and anti-aircraft roles. It can work in every condition, day and night.
It is also used by Turkish air force.
5. Z-10
The Z-10 is the Chinese attack helicopter. It has been designed with advanced technology. It is developed for the anti-tank mission but is has the capability of air to air fight. The well-protected cockpit is night vision goggles compatible. The Z-10 is fitted with millimeter wave radar.
Weapons of the Z-10 may consist of 30-mm cannon, HJ-9 anti-tank guided missiles, HJ-10 anti-tank missiles and TY-90 air-to-air missiles. It has revolver guns, chain guns, and automatic grenade launchers. It can also carry unguided rocket pods.
4. Eurocopter Tiger
The Eurocopter Tiger is a German attack helicopter introduced in 2003. This stealth technology has made it powerful as well as other advanced features has increased its survival as well.
The Tiger is available in attack and fire support configurations. The attack version is fitted with guided anti-tank Trigat or HOT-3 missiles, as well as unguided rockets. It also carries Stinger air-to-air missiles. It has an infra-red sensor.
The escort version of the Tiger is fitted with 30-mm cannon and unguided missiles, and Mistral air-to-air missiles. It is in service with the French, Australian, and Spanish Army.
3. Bell AH-1Z Viper
Bell AH-1Z Viper is a four-blade, twin-engine attack helicopter of the American army. It was introduced in US army in 2010. It is an amphibious assault ship which can work in day and night. It can work in adverse weather conditions also.
It is with a fully integrated night vision goggles compatible cockpit. It provides superior long range detection and identification. This AH-1Z is equipped with infrared suppression system.
The attack helicopter is equipped with two air-to-air missiles, guided rockets, illumination flares, M-197 20mm cannon, and auxiliary fuel tanks. It has Target Sight System and third-generation FLIR sensor.
2. Mil Mi-28
The Mil Mi-28 is a Russian helicopter gunship. It was introduced in Russian Army in 2009.
The cockpit of this helicopter is titanium-armored and shielded by ballistic-resistant windscreens. The attack helicopter has a built-in emergency escape system for the crew. It has transport capabilities also.
The Mi-28 is typically fitted with anti-tank guided missiles along with unguided rocket pods. This gunship is also equipped with 30-mm two barrel cannon and laser guided rockets. The aircraft has two 2,200 hp engines.
It has the ability to operate all day and all night and can work under all air conditions.
1. Boeing AH-64D Apache
The AH-64D Apache is a four-blade helicopter, with a tandem cockpit and updated Longbow fire control radar. This attack helicopter is equipped with Alliant Tech system M230 30mm single-barrel automatic cannon. It carries Hellfire 2 anti-tank guided missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. Other improvements include target acquisition, battle management system, night vision systems, communications, weapons and navigation systems.
It was widely used in the gulf war.
It is also used in Israel, Egyptian and Netherlands Airforce.
Attack Helicopter is equipped with firearms which practice the main role of an attack machine. Mostly it is used for attacking ground objects. Currently, different countries use invading helicopters to verify their strengths. Mainly a large segment of this device is designed for the ground attack but sometimes it can be used for different purposes. It can also be used instead of ample weapons. Most of these attack helicopters are used on the battlefield to destroy the enemies. Though we do not want a war to maintain happiness in the world, yet we keep attack helicopters for special needs and wartime situation as well.
